A Collaboration between Birth Matron and The Womb Garden

This training will offer hands-on skills in cultural postpartum care, along with tools for nervous system regulation—all held within a deeply nourishing, nature-connected environment. We will rest, eat well, learn, and be in true community with one another, held by the land and rhythms of Maui. 

We invite you to join us if:

  • You feel called to support women through birth and postpartum
  • You are a doula seeking to deepen your offerings and learn from cultural practitioners
  • You are a practitioner who already work with women, seeking to gain additional skills to support your postpartum clients
  • You want to be part of building something real—something our mothers, sisters, and daughters will benefit from for generations
  • Someone you love is entering motherhood, and you want to show up in a powerful way for them
  • You are a seeking to learn practical tools to help women in your community while nourishing your own soul

*You do not need to be a doula or birthworker to attend.

Salwa Salim

Founder of Birth Matron, offering traditional Malay postpartum care for modern mothers.

Naoko (Nicky) Lawnsby

Traditional Japanese Midwife, practitioner of the traditional art of Japanese breast massage assisting women with breastfeeding and breast health.

Faith Matangi

Singer, artist & sound facilitator. Co-creator of Daughters of Ma, a women’s collective.

Eden Flynn

Ayurvedic practitioner, somatic movement facilitator and Creator of Mother Medicine, a circle for intergenerational healing, health & community.

Danae Richardson

Facilitates healing experiences in her private practice. Supports teens with intuitive counseling while building trust with their families.

Elena Domingues

Author of Return to Rhythm, somatic practitioner, women’s circle facilitator.

Retreat details

Location - Maui, Hawaii

Dates - April 23-26, 2026 (4 days)

Retreat Location & accommodation

Our training retreat will be held in the beautiful healing lands of Maui. 

Closest airport is Kahului Airport (OGG)

Accommodation will be at a historic home on beautifully landscaped grounds located just minutes from Makawao town. 

There is a pool and hot tub available for use.

Training retreat will be held on-site at the accommodation location and at the Womb Garden for certain sessions.

Best areas to book accommodation before or after the retreat will be Makawao, Olinda, Pāʻia or Ha’iku.

MEALS

  • Breakfast & Beverages

Daily morning platters will consist of a variety of breakfast fare, baked goods, local fruits and spreads. Coffee and tea will be available throughout the day.

  • Nourishing Lunch experience

4 skillfully prepared lunches by a Malaysian chef experienced in postpartum meals. Participants will get to sample some dishes fit for postpartum healing to complement the training.

  • Evening Integration

Soup will be provided each night. Participants are responsible for any additional dinner needs. Common kitchen is available for use and there is a mini fridge provided in each room.

Womb Garden Special Event:

Evening bonfire: Soup and bread will be served as we gather around the fire at the Womb Garden. (Weather permitting, date TBA).

Opening and closing times

April 23rd (Thursday)

Opening Circle: Our journey together begins at 10am at the Womb Garden.

Please arrive at 9am for meet and greet and morning refreshments

Check in- proceed to accommodation site at noon for lunch and settle into rooms.

April 26th (Sunday)

Check out: Participants check out of rooms by 10am, lunch.

Afternoon session will be held at the womb garden.

Closing and farewell- approximately 4pm.
