Imagine a serene garden retreat on Maui, where new mothers are welcomed into rest, nourishment, and community. They receive warm meals, herbal healing, skilled doula care, and—most importantly—permission to slow down.
Welcome to The Womb Garden—a postpartum retreat center that reclaims the sacred transition into motherhood with holistic and culturally grounded care, adapted to modern needs
The list continues as every culture had their own ways of honoring the mother after the miracle of birth, utilizing local herbs and plants in their healing remedies and foods.
Across cultures, postpartum traditions exist because they’re medically wise and spiritually essential. They emphasize rest, warmth, nourishment, and emotional connection. These rituals are not outdated—they are evidence-based, trauma-preventing, and deeply human.
At The Womb Garden, we honor these traditions—through herbal remedies, postpartum meals, gentle bodywork, and a return to nature’s rhythms.
The Womb Garden is more than just a wellness retreat center- it is a functional, public health solution, and- very importantly- where local postpartum and birth practitioners can expect a sustainable and dignified employment being in a role which once was and still should be considered indispensable in the community.
We’re not only caring for mothers—we’re also preparing the next generation to walk into womanhood with strength and reverence.
Through our Moon Maiden program, we’ve hosted monthly gatherings for pre adolescence and adolescent girls for the past 4 years, and an annual rites of passage ceremony honoring the girls transitioning into womanhood. These gatherings have helped our community’s young wāhine connect deeply with their bodies, their cycles, and their feminine power.
They’ve learned that menstruation is not shameful—but sacred. That their bodies are not burdens—but sources of intuition, strength, and creativity.
By tending to these girls now, we are nurturing future women who will honor care, expect it, and offer it to others.

At The Womb Garden, we care for mothers now, and we guide young girls to become the kind of women who will demand better care for generations to come.
In communities that invest in mothers, we see lower health risks, stronger bonds, and healthier children. We are reimagining postpartum care—drawing on the best of global models and traditional practices, and planting them here in Maui, where healing is part of the land.
Together, we’re not just caring for mothers—we’re restoring a sacred cultural memory, preparing the soil for the next generation to thrive.
I hope you will join us in cultivating a sanctuary where birth transitions are honored with the reverence they deserve
